What to do if something is not working
A knowledge base of common issues and quick fixes. If you cannot find an answer, message us on Telegram or by email — we usually reply within an hour.
Installation & launch
Windows SmartScreen blocks the installer (blue "Windows Defender" screen)+
This is normal for apps without an expensive publisher certificate (€400/year). To install:
- Click "More info" on the left side of the blue window.
- Click the "Run anyway" button at the bottom.
The .exe is downloaded directly from GitHub Releases through your account — it is not a pirated build or a virus.
Antivirus deletes the .exe or quarantines it+
Antivirus heuristics sometimes trigger on new Electron apps. Fixes:
- Add the folder
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\Prompter AI\to your antivirus exclusions. - Download the .exe again from your account.
- If nothing works — message us on Telegram and we will send a direct link and the SHA-256.
The app does not start, no window appears+
- Check your Windows version: you need Windows 10 version 2004 or newer, or Windows 11.
- Run the .exe as administrator — this sometimes helps the initial installation.
- Open Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc) and check whether a
Prompter AI.exeprocess is running — the window may be hidden (Ctrl+\ shows/hides the window).
Where is it installed and where is the data?+
- The app itself:

%APPDATA%\Prompter AI\ - When uninstalling, you will be asked whether to delete your user data.
Microphone & sound
The app cannot hear my voice — the level bar does not move+
Check in this order:
- Audio source in the app: switch to "Microphone" or "Both" (not "Other party").
- In Windows: Settings → Privacy → Microphone → Allow desktop apps to access your microphone — this is the key toggle, and it often turns itself off after Windows updates.
- In Windows: Sound settings → Input — check which device is set as default. Windows sometimes switches to the built-in microphone instead of your headset.
- Close programs that may grab the microphone exclusively: Zoom, Teams, Discord, OBS, Voicemeeter, NVIDIA Broadcast.
- Restart the app after changing the device.
The app cannot hear the other party (system sound)+
- The source in the app must be "Other party" or "Both".
- The call must play through your system speakers — the app listens to what you hear. If you use a headset with its own audio device, you may need Stereo Mix or audio rerouting.
- Check: is there any sound on your computer at all? Open YouTube — can you hear the music?
The level moves, but no recognized text appears+
This means the audio is being captured, but speech recognition (Yandex SpeechKit) is not returning anything. Causes:
- Weak signal — move the microphone closer or raise the system volume.
- A network error between the app and our gateway — check your internet connection and restart the app.
- Error
13 INTERNAL: Call ended without gRPC status— a SpeechKit reconnect. Restart recognition (press Ctrl+L twice).
Recognition works, but with errors — wrong words+
- This is a quirk of Yandex SpeechKit: it can make mistakes on technical terms and rare names. The cleaner the audio, the more accurate it is.
- The AI hint often copes with SpeechKit typos because it understands the context of the conversation.
- If you deal with specialized terms (medicine, law, specific products) — add a glossary of key terms to a file attached to the scenario.
AI answer quality
The AI gives overly generic, templated answers+
The most common cause is no files attached to the scenario. Open Settings → Scenarios and prompts → your scenario → the "Attach document" button. What to attach:
- For interviews: your resume (PDF/DOCX), the job description (text in TXT or PDF).
- For sales: the product description (pricing, case studies), the client brief.
Once attached, the AI reads the text of these documents before every answer and relies on them.
The AI answers the wrong line or gets distracted+
- Check which scenario is currently active (the "Scenarios" bar in the chat). If several are active, their prompts mix together and answers can be less focused.
- Refine the scenario's system prompt — add: "Answer only the last line from the other party, do not comment on the context."
- Start a new chat ("New chat" in the header) — old conversation context can throw the AI off.
I want shorter answers+
Add this explicitly to the scenario's system prompt:
The default "Interview" and "Sales" templates already include this, but weaker models (YandexGPT Lite) sometimes ignore it. Try GPT-4o or Claude.
I want answers in English+
Go to Settings → "Answer model" → "Answer language" → English. Or add to the scenario prompt: "Always answer in English, regardless of the conversation language."
Which AI model to choose+
- YandexGPT Lite — cheap and fast. Good for simple scenarios (routine interviews, templated sales).
- YandexGPT Pro / GigaChat Max — better for complex dialogues.
- OpenAI GPT-4o / Claude Sonnet — the most accurate and versatile. Higher price. Connected through a Russian proxy, no VPN needed.
- o4-mini, Claude Opus — the "smartest," for critical negotiations or hard technical interviews.
Invisibility during screen sharing
The window is visible to the other party or on the recording+
- In the top-right corner of the window there is an "eye" button. If it is crossed out (red), protection is off. Click it to turn it on.
- Once enabled, protection applies immediately — no need to restart the app.
- If you are on Windows 10 version 1909 or older, protection does not work (you need Windows 10 2004+ or Windows 11). Update your system.

Scenarios & files
Which file types are supported for attachment+
PDF, DOCX, XLSX, CSV, TXT, MD. The text content is extracted — images and charts are not recognized.
The file will not attach — "PDF cannot be parsed"+
This happens with PDFs that consist only of scans (images). The parser does not do OCR. What to do:
- Open the PDF, save it as PDF/A, or convert it through any OCR service.
- Copy the text manually into a TXT or DOCX — this is more reliable.
- Very large PDFs (>5 MB) may not fit — split them into parts.
The "Interview" and "Sales" scenarios disappeared+
Scenarios are stored locally on your computer (not in the cloud). If you deleted them, you can bring them back:
- Delete all remaining scenarios in Settings.
- Restart the app.
- They will be seeded again on startup.
If that does not help — message us and we will fix it.
Can I enable several scenarios at once+
Yes. Click each one in the "Scenarios" bar in the chat — their prompts and documents will merge into a single context for the AI. Useful if, for example, you have an interview with three topics and a separate scenario for each.
Registration & email
The email confirmation message does not arrive+
- Check your "Spam" folder. Messages from new senders often land there.
- Wait 2–5 minutes — there is sometimes a delay.
- Click "Resend email" on the login page.
- If nothing arrives within 10 minutes — message us on Telegram and we will activate it manually.
I forgot my password+
There is a "Forgot password?" link on the login page. Enter your email and you will get a reset link. It is valid for 1 hour. After the reset, all previously open sessions in the app will be signed out — log in again.
I want to delete my account+
Message @Leenkov on Telegram asking to delete it — we will do it within a day. All data (balance, history, links) will be deleted permanently.
Balance & payment
The payment went through at the bank, but the balance was not topped up+
- Wait 1–2 minutes — the balance updates via the YooKassa webhook, which can be slightly delayed.
- Refresh your account page (F5).
- In the app, the balance refreshes automatically once a minute.
- If it is not credited within 10 minutes — send us the payment number from your bank SMS and we will look into it.
Money was charged, but the AI did not answer+
This should not happen — the charge is made after a successful answer. If it did happen — send us the time and the scenario, we will check the logs and compensate you.
How much does it cost and how is it calculated+
Pay-as-you-go: you are charged for each AI answer. The cost depends on:
- The selected model (YandexGPT Lite is the cheapest).
- The context size — all attached documents, the dialogue history, your prompt.
- The length of the AI answer.
Exact prices are shown in Settings under the model selector. One answer is usually between 5 and 50 kopecks.
I want a refund+
Within 10 business days of a top-up, you can request a refund of the unused balance. Send your request to noreply@prompter-assist.ru with the subject "Refund" — we will process it within 1–3 business days. The terms are in the Terms of Service.
App errors
"13 INTERNAL: Received RST_STREAM" or "Call ended without gRPC status"+
Yandex SpeechKit dropped the connection. Usually a temporary glitch. What to do:
- Press Ctrl+L twice (stop and start recognition).
- If it keeps happening — restart the app.
- If the error is persistent and lasts more than 30 minutes — message us, the problem may be on our gateway.
"400 Bad Request: empty message text"+
This error used to appear when AI generation was stopped before the first token arrived. It is fixed in the latest version — update the app via auto-update (the banner at the top) or download it again.
"HTTP 402: Insufficient balance"+
Your balance is too low. Top it up in your account or via the "+" button in the app.
The app freezes or crashes+
- Restart it via Task Manager — find
Prompter AI.exeand end it. - Delete
%APPDATA%\Prompter AI\window.json— a saved window geometry sometimes breaks startup. - If the crash repeats — send us a screenshot of the error and the app version (Settings → Help and support) on Telegram.
Auto-update does not work+
If you installed a version before 0.7.1 — it has no auto-update. Download the latest version manually from your account. After that, updates will come automatically through the banner in the app.
